ENTERTAINMENT MERCHANTS ASSOCIATION  ELECTS BOARD OFFICERS FOR 2011 & 2012

Bob Geistman Re-elected To Seventh Consecutive Term as Chairman

ENCINO, CA (August 4, 2011) … The Board of Directors of the Entertainment Merchants Association’s (EMA) has elected is officers for the 2011-12 year, the trade association announced today. Bob Geistman (Ingram Entertainment) has been re-elected to a seventh consecutive term as Chairman of EMA, John Marmaduke (Hastings Entertainment, Inc.) was elected to serve as Vice Chairman, and Marty Graham (Rentrak Corporation) as Treasurer. 

In addition, Bruce Eisen (Dish Network) and Mike Gimlett (GameFly, Inc.) were selected to serve as at-large members of EMA’s Executive Committee, which directs Association activities in-between Board meetings. All the Officers and at-large Executive Committee members were elected unanimously.

“EMA Board members contribute greatly to the success of the association,” declared EMA President & CEO Bo Andersen. “The Board’s excellent stewardship of the association allows EMA to provide industry support during this economically challenging period. We are pleased with the Officers that were chosen to maintain and encourage our endeavors.”

In addition to the members of the Executive Committee, the following individuals are members of the 2010-2011 EMA Board of Directors: Richard Barry (Toys R Us, Inc.); David Benson (Best Buy Co., Inc.); David Cook  (RoxioNow, Inc.); Mindy Herman (Redbox Automated Retail, LLC); Mark Higgins (Trans World Entertainment); Daniel J. Kaufman (GameStop Corporation); Jim Loperfido  (Emerald City Video); Ken McAleer (Video Headquarters); Joe Miller (Giant Eagle, Inc.); Steve Oliver (Amazon.com); Anna Lee (Netflix, Inc.); Mike Thielman (Target Corporation); and Mark Vrieling (Rain City Video/ScreenPlay, Inc.).

The Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA) is the not-for-profit international trade association dedicated to advancing the interests of the $35 billion home entertainment industry. EMA-member companies operate approximately 35,000 retail outlets in the U.S. and 45,000 around the world that sell and/or rent DVDs, computer and console video games, and digitally distributed versions of these products. Membership comprises the full spectrum of retailers (from single-store specialists to multi-line mass merchants and both brick and mortar and online stores), distributors, the home video divisions of major and independent motion picture studios, video game publishers, and other related businesses that constitute and support the home entertainment industry. EMA was established in April 2006 through the merger of the Video Software Dealers Association (VSDA) and the Interactive Entertainment Merchants Association (IEMA).
