Danny Bilson Keynote at Digital Media Pipeline: “Building Connected IP in the Digital World”

ENCINO, CA (September 10, 2013) … Motion picture and television producer/director/screenwriter, video game developer, comic book and graphic novel author, and transmedia expert Danny Bilson will present a keynote address at the 2013 Digital Media Pipeline. Bilson’s keynote is titled “Building Connected Intellectual Property in the Digital World.” Digital Media Pipeline, which is produced by the Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA), will held September 24 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.

Digital Media Pipeline is a one-day B2B event that brings together executives from leading providers of digital entertainment content as well as key retailers and distributors, content aggregators, service providers, and new technology companies to discuss digital delivery of home entertainment. This year, for the first time, the conference will add discussions on digital video game distribution and retailing.

“With the proliferation of devices that can deliver both linear and interactive content, the opportunity to grow truly connected entertainment brands has arrived,” Bilson declared.  “I look forward to discussing how today’s audience consumes content across media and how to leverage and grow intellectual property in this new eco-system.” 

With his writing partner Paul DeMeo, Bilson wrote the movie The Rocketeer (1991), the video game James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing (2003), the television series The Sentinel (1996), Viper (1994, 1996) and The Flash (1990), and issues of the comic book The Flash. Bilson also directed and produced The Sentinel and The Flash. Recent projects include the screen stories for Sergeant Rock, a World War II adventure based on the DC Comics character, as well Red Faction for Syfy and Company of Heroes for Sony Pictures. Bilson and DeMeo recently re-launched The Flash comic for DC Comics as well as their original graphic novel, entitled Red Menace, the story of a blacklisted superhero set in 1953 Los Angeles. Next up is a brand new cketeer story for IDG comics.

Bilson’s expertise in transmedia comes from adapting comic books into movies (The Rocketeer), comic books into television (The Flash), and movies into video games (James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing).  

In addition to running his production company, Pet Fly, Bilson has worked for Electronic Arts and THQ. Bilson currently teaches game design, screenwriting, and intellectual property development at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, where he has been a faculty member since 2005.

Digital Media Pipeline will feature keynotes by digital media innovators, panel discussions with key digital media executives, research presentations, and new technology spotlight sessions. Topics to be covered include:
